Biography

Gennady Savkov was born in Omsk in 1952. He studied accordion in his home town under the direction of V.Yepifanov, graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (the class of B. Furmanavičius). In 1986-1989 he continued his post-graduate studies at the Ukrainian Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music, as a soloist in the class of prof. I.A.Yashkevich, and in ensemble - under prof. N. Rizol.

For more than 30 years he has performed in ensemble with E.Gabnys. The ensemble is the winner of many international competitions in Klingenthal, Castelfidardo and Lanciano. He also was a member of the Excelsior Baltic Quintet, which won in several international festivals and competitions.

G. Savkov performs with famous Lithuanian singers such as V.Noreika, V.Prudnikovas, J. Leitaite, N. Katiliene, R.Maciute as well as with chamber and symphony orchestras, Retro music ensemble (dir. Tomas Leiburas), and the "Musica Camerata Baltica" piano trio and the Čiurlionis String Quartet.

Gennady Savkov performed in Europe, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand.

He is also an expert teacher at the Naujioji-Vilnia music school in Vilnius the associate professor of folk instruments and accordion at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.

During his artistic career G. Savkov issued 5 MCs, 1 LP, 9 CDs and 3 DVDs. In 2012 there appeared his double solo CD "Charmaine".

Currently Gennady is full of creative energy and plans; he is involved in several concert projects.
